We have a WINNER!

The day has dawned grey and cold and still.  Not a breath of wind in the air.  If it weren't for the hum (ok, distant roar, but hum sounded better) of cars careering down the road at 45mph in a 30 zone I'd wonder if there was anything going on out there at all.

Last night as I listened to two owls chit-chatting in my back garden, I counted up all the entries for my New Year Giveaway - y'know, the "everything you need to teach yourself crochet" one I've been harping on about on Twitter for the last month.  There were 202 entries in all.  Two hundred and two!  Amazing.  Thank you!  I had no idea that it would be so popular, but it seems that there are a lot of you out there who would like to try your hand at learning a new skill, and have plumped for crochet as The One.

So, I counted up all the entries......

wrote every single entry down on a little slip of paper.....

folded them up into neat little squares.....

and popped them in my new sewing box.  I mixed them all up and moved them all around, and.....

picked one out!  The winner is.......

Belinda Norrington (@B_wildacre)!

Very many congratulations Belinda, I will wrap up your goodies today and scurry down to the post office and hopefully the little parcel of crochet wonderfulness will wing it's way to you by tomorrow morning.

A little reminder of what Belinda has won:

You must let me know how you get on with learning - have patience, and stay relaxed.  If you don't get a stitch the first time, don't give up. Try again, and it will come.

Ahhhh.....passing my little pearls of wisdom onto the next learner crocheter, that feels good.  And I've not yet been crocheting a full year!  It's addictive: the more you learn, the more you want to learn, and the more yarn you will buy.  Yup.  I promised I wouldn't, but I did.  Oops!

Have a great day everyone, who has snow where they are?  Not even a whiff of snow here in Oxford.

Love,  Emmalemonade x x

  1. What a lovely giveaway - Sorry to have missed it. I will look out for the book though as am trying to teach my left handed daughter to crochet and am finding it difficult as I am right handed! :)

  6. Snow? We haven't even seen cold weather yet this year in Texas. I long for a single snowflake, and dream of tall drifts for sledding. Love your blog.

Still no snow here in Oxford, although that's quite a good thing really because I want to be able to get to Cardiff (Wales) tomorrow evening!

      Enjoy your weekend x x
